Application Scenarios for 99.99% High-Purity Indirect-Process Zinc Oxide

99.99% high-purity indirect-process zinc oxide (also known as French-process zinc oxide) is a high-purity product obtained by melting and vaporizing metallic zinc ingots at high temperatures, followed by oxidation and cooling. Due to its exceptionally high purity—reaching 99.99% or higher—and extremely low levels of impurities (such as very low concentrations of heavy metals like lead, cadmium, and arsenic)—it is primarily used in high-end applications that have extremely stringent requirements for material impurities.

I. Electronics and Semiconductor Materials

1. Target Materials and Thin-Film Preparation

High-purity zinc oxide is an important raw material for the manufacture of sputtering targets. High-purity zinc oxide thin films can be prepared via processes such as magnetron sputtering and are widely used in electronic components including semiconductor devices, optoelectronic devices, and transparent conductive films.

2. Electronic Ceramics and Varistors

Used for the preparation of high-performance varistors, it can moderately reduce the sintering temperature and significantly enhance the electrical performance and nonlinear coefficient of the product.

II. Advanced Optical and Fluorescent Materials

1. Optical glass and UV-resistant materials

Leveraging its excellent resistance to ultraviolet (UVA, UVB) and infrared radiation, it can be used to manufacture high-performance optical glass, transparent protective coatings, UV-resistant fibers, and high-end sunscreen paints, among other products. 2. Advanced phosphor

As a phosphor material, high purity can effectively prevent luminescence quenching or color shift caused by impurities. III. Advanced Ceramics and Functional Crystals

1. Functional ceramics

In the ceramics industry, as a flux or additive, it not only lowers the sintering temperature but also imparts special properties to ceramic products, such as antibacterial, deodorizing, and piezoelectric functions.

2. Zinc oxide single crystal

As a basic raw material for growing single-crystal zinc oxide, it is used in the manufacture of piezoelectric devices, optoelectronic devices, and more.

IV. High-end Fine Chemicals and New Materials

1. Photocatalysis and Antibacterial Materials

High-purity nano-sized zinc oxide exhibits extremely high chemical and photocatalytic activity, making it suitable for catalyzing the photolysis of organic compounds, providing highly effective antibacterial and bacteriostatic properties (e.g., in medical and healthcare products, textile antimicrobial materials), as well as for odor removal and formaldehyde elimination.

2. Thermal interface materials

In high-power-density electronic devices such as 5G communications, AI servers, and new-energy vehicles, high-purity zinc oxide can be used as a thermally conductive filler in thermal management applications between chips—such as CPUs and GPUs—and heat sinks, thereby reducing contact thermal resistance.

V. High-end Rubber and Polymer Materials

As an inorganic activator and vulcanization accelerator in the rubber industry, high-purity formulations can significantly enhance the smoothness, mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and aging resistance of rubber products—such as automobile and aircraft tires and industrial cables. When used as an additive in coatings, plastics, and latex, they can markedly improve the products’ opacity, tinting strength, compactness, and adhesion.
